After his death in 323 BCE, Egypt became part of the Ptolemaic Empire, after one of Alexander's generals. Cleopatra, whose sunken palace Lara discovers in the sea off Alexandria, was the last of the Ptolemies, at which point Egypt was incorporated into the Roman Empire.
